The Boston Red Sox had no answer for Erik Bedard and two Mariners relief pitchers as they were shutout 1-0 on Wenesday night.  In fact, the Red Sox hitters only had two hits in the entire ballgame!  You are definately not going to win a game doing that.

Mike Lowell and Manny Ramirez were the only two Red Sox batters to record a hit in the game.  Ramirez is still one shy of hitting 500 homeruns as well.

The offense wasted a great pitching performance by Tim Wakefield who threw all eight innings for the Red Sox.  Wakefield took the loss however as he gave up a run in the third inning when Yuniesky Betancourt hit a solo home run.  Wakefield’s record drops to 3-4 on the season with the loss.

The Red Sox will now have an off day before beginning a weekend series with the Baltimore Orioles.

It was a high scoring game at Fenway Park but the Boston Red Sox came out on top against the Kansas City Royals by the score of 11-8.  Thanks to two grand slams by J.D. Drew and Mike Lowell, the Red Sox put up 11 runs on the board and swept the Royals in their three game series.

Drew and Lowell both finished the game with four rbi each in the game.  Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, and Julio Lugo all had one rbi in the game as well.

It was a good thing the Red Sox offense score 11 runs because the pitching staff wasn’t that good today as they gave up eight runs to the Royals offense.  Starting pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka gave up three runs over 5 2/3 innings pitched.  Matsuzaka did improve to 8-0 on the season however as he was still able to get the victory.

Relief pitcher Craig Hansen gave up two runs while David Aardsma gave up three more runs in the game.  Aardsma gave up a three run home run in the eighth inning to account for all three of his runs given up.

The Red Sox will now hop on a plane and travel across the country to face the Oakland Athletics.

The Boston Red Sox have hit a little bit of a slump as they have now lost four games in a row.  Today’s game against the Baltimore Orioles seen the Orioles score six runs combined in the sixth in seventh inning as the Red Sox lost 6-3.  They just couldn’t hold onto the lead…

Starting pitcher Jon Lester pitched six innings while giving up five hits and two runs.  He struckout four batters while only walking two.  Lester ended up getting the no decision in the game as the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead after he left the game.

Javier Lopez pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up one run.  After Lopez left the game, Craig Hansen gave up two more runs without recording an out and also took the loss in the game.  Hideki Okajima followed Hansen and and gave up one run as well.  The bullpen just sucked it up today, nothing else to really blog about.

Dustin Pedroia got the Red Sox scoring started in the first inning with a rbi single.  Then in the fifth inning Jason Varitek hit a solo home run.  Mike Lowell also hit a solo home run in the game as he went deep in the sixth inning.

The Red Sox will get a much needed off day on Thursday and then they will play the Milwaukee Brewers in a interleague series.

The Boston Red Sox were on the losing end Tueday night as they lost to the Baltimore Orioles 5-4.  The Red Sox gave up four runs in the third inning and then were never able to get back on top in the game after they had been up 3-0 early in the game.

Josh Beckett was lit up for eleven hits and five runs in only 5 2/3 innings.  Beckett did give up three run home run to Luke Scott in the third inning that proved to be the game winning hit.  Beckett’s record dropped to 4-3 on the season with the loss.

Manny Ramirez, Mike Lowell, and Alex Cora all had one rbi for the Red Sox.  The Red Sox were just unable to come up with a hit or home run to score more then one run a time in the game.

I would think that the Red Sox will come back and beat the Orioles on Wednesday.  What do the Red Sox fans think?  Red Sox Blog

Boston Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon blew the save and the game against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night as the Tigers came back to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and beat the Red Sox 10-9.

Papelbon gave up two hits and two runs in the ninth inning has he dropped his first game of the season.  Usually Red Sox fans see Papelbon come right in and shut down the other team in the ninth inning but that didn’t happen against the Tigers.

Clay Buchholz got the start for the Red Sox and pitched four inning as he was pulled after giving up ten hits and five runs.  Julian Tavarez pitched one inning after Bucholz and gave up four hits and three runs.  David Aardsma, Javier Lopez, and Hideki Okajima all pitched after Tavarez and before Papelbon without giving up a run.

Kevin Youkilis and Mike Lowell both hit home runs at the plate for the Red Sox.  Both players also finished with three rbi in the game.  Jed Lowrie, Dustin Pedroia, and David Ortiz all had one RBI in the game.

The Red Sox are now 22-14 on the season.  Red Sox Blog

The Boston Red Sox clubbed three home runs as they beat the Detroit Tigers 6-3 on Monday night.  Mike Lowell, Kevin Youkilis, and David Ortiz all hit home runs in the game as the Red Sox improved their record to 21-13 on the season.

Lowell, Youkilis, and Ortiz all had two RBI each in the game for the Red Sox.

Daisuke Matsuzaka picked up the win as he pitched five innings.  Matsuzaka only gave up two hits and one run but did walk right batters.  Control issues really hurt Matsuzaka and that is why he only pitched five innings in the game.

Craig Hansen pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up two runs.  Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon finished out the game for the Red Sox.  Papelbon picked up his tenth save of the season.
