The Boston Red Sox used a big four run sixth inning to come back and beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-4 on Tuesday night in Boston.  Jason Varitek, Coco Crisp, and Jacoby Ellsbury all came up big in the sixth inning.

Lowell and Crisp led the Red Sox at the plate as they both had two rbi on the game.  J.D. Drew, Varitek, and Ellsbury all had one rbi as the Red Sox used production up and down the entire lineup to get by the fiesty Rays.

Justin Masterson picked up the win and is now 2-0 on the season.  Masterson pitched six innings and gave up six hits and four runs.  Three of the four runs came via two long balls that Masterson served up to Akinori Iwamura and Carlos Pena.

Jon Lester tossed a no hitter against the Kansas City Royals on Monday night.  The Red Sox defeated the Royals by a score of 7-0.  Lester allowed two walks and struck out nine batters in the game.  The complete game was Lester’s first of his career as well.  Boston’s last no-hitter was pitched by Clay Buchholz, who shut down the Baltimore Orioles in just his second major league start last Sept. 1

Jason Varitek had a two run home while Manny Ramirez and Kevin Youkilis both had an rbi in the game.  The Red Sox only managed five hits in the game but Varitek came up big and score two runs with one swing of the bat.

Congrats to Lester on throwing the no hitter.  Red Sox Nation is going crazy tonight!  Red Sox Blog

The Boston Red Sox have hit a little bit of a slump as they have now lost four games in a row.  Today’s game against the Baltimore Orioles seen the Orioles score six runs combined in the sixth in seventh inning as the Red Sox lost 6-3.  They just couldn’t hold onto the lead…

Starting pitcher Jon Lester pitched six innings while giving up five hits and two runs.  He struckout four batters while only walking two.  Lester ended up getting the no decision in the game as the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead after he left the game.

Javier Lopez pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up one run.  After Lopez left the game, Craig Hansen gave up two more runs without recording an out and also took the loss in the game.  Hideki Okajima followed Hansen and and gave up one run as well.  The bullpen just sucked it up today, nothing else to really blog about.

Dustin Pedroia got the Red Sox scoring started in the first inning with a rbi single.  Then in the fifth inning Jason Varitek hit a solo home run.  Mike Lowell also hit a solo home run in the game as he went deep in the sixth inning.

The Red Sox will get a much needed off day on Thursday and then they will play the Milwaukee Brewers in a interleague series.

The Boston Red Sox used a ninth inning rally to score two runs and break a 3-3 tie and defeat the Cleveland Indians by the score of 5-3.  Jason Varitek’s big solo home run in the ninth inning proved to be too much for the Indians to handle.

Veritek wasn’t the only player to have a big night for the Red Sox as Jed Lowrie went one for three and three RBI.  It was Lowrie’s first major league hit and a big one that really helped out the team.  Lowrie said he could hardly stand at first base after the hit he was so excited.  Kevin Youkilis had an RBI insurance run after the Varitek home run as well.

Tim Wakefield pitched six innings and gave up seven hits and two earned runs to get the no decision.  David Aardsma picked up the win and Hideki Okajima grabbed the save for the Red Sox.
