The Boston Red Sox used a big four run sixth inning to come back and beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-4 on Tuesday night in Boston.  Jason Varitek, Coco Crisp, and Jacoby Ellsbury all came up big in the sixth inning.

Lowell and Crisp led the Red Sox at the plate as they both had two rbi on the game.  J.D. Drew, Varitek, and Ellsbury all had one rbi as the Red Sox used production up and down the entire lineup to get by the fiesty Rays.

Justin Masterson picked up the win and is now 2-0 on the season.  Masterson pitched six innings and gave up six hits and four runs.  Three of the four runs came via two long balls that Masterson served up to Akinori Iwamura and Carlos Pena.

Manny Delcarmen, Javier Lopez, Craig Hansen, and Jonathan Papelbon all seen action out of the bullpen and they all did a pretty good job. Papelbon finished the game off and earned his 17th save of the season.

The Boston Red Sox didn’t throw a no hitter on Tuesday night but they did limit the Kansas City Royals to five hits as the Red Sox beat the Royals 2-1.  Two runs in the second inning proved to be enough for the Red Sox as they beat the Royals for the second straight night.

Julio Lugo and Coco Crisp both had rbi singles in the second inning for the Red Sox runs.  After that, the Red Sox offense struggled as they only had three other hits the entire game.

Justin Masterson pitched 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win.  Masteron is now 1-0 on the season as he allowed three hits and only the one run in the game.  Javier Lopez, Manny Delcarmen, and Hideki Okajima all pitched before Jonathan Papelbon came in to record his 13th save of the season.

Good win for the Red Sox even though they need to swing the bat better.  I’d expect them to do a good job at the plate tomorrow when they take on the Royals once again.  Red Sox Blog

Tim Wakefield tossed eight inning against the Detroit Tigers and only allowed two hits and then Mike Timlin pitched the ninth inning and allowed one hit.  game.  The Red Sox went onto beat the Tigers 5-0 in the game as well.

Awesome performance by Wakefield who improved to 3-1 on the season.  A great performance that saved the bullpen some innings and that is always good early in the season.

Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz both hit their seventh home runs of the season in the game.  Both home runs came in the seventh inning as well.  J.D. Drew, Kevin Cash, and Coco Crisp all had one RBI each for the Red Sox.

The Red Sox have now won five straight games and their record stands at 22-13.

David Ortiz connected on a two run home run in the ninth inning but the Boston Red Sox were unable to score two more runs to send the game to extra innings as they lost to the Los Angeles Angels 7-5 on Thursday afternoon.

Besides Ortiz’s two RBI, Coco Crisp also had two RBI as he had RBI’s in the second and fourth innings.  Kevin Cash also had a RBI in the fourth inning when he hit a ground rule double that scored Crisp.

Manny Delcarmen took the loss for the Red Sox as he gave up two runs and one hit without recording a hit.  Javier Lopez also pitched in the seventh inning and gave up two runs before Delcarmen.  David Aardsma also gave up a run out of the bullpen.

Justin Masterson started the game for the Red Sox and pitched six innings.  Masterson only allowed two hits and one run.  It’s really too bad that the bullpen stunk it up so much after Masteron left the game.

The Boston Red Sox had 13 hits on the night, and they scored 12 runs, now that is what I call production at the plate!  Up and down the lineup, Red Sox batters piled on the RBI’s and the Red Sox went on for the 12-6 victory.

Sean Casey went 2-5 with a game high three RBI.  Manny Ramirez, Kevin Youkilis, J.D. Drew, and Coco Crisp all had two RBI each.  Kevin Cash didn’t want to be left out and had one RBI.

Tim Wakefield pitched five innings to pick up the win.  He only allowed one earned run on the night.  One other run did score but that was helped out by a Red Sox error.

One player that did have some problems pitching was Julian Tavarez who pitched .2 innings and gave up three earned runs.

The Red Sox record is now 5-5 after the victory over the Tigers.

Daisuke Matsuzaka and the Boston Red Sox had no problems with the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday as they cruised to a 5-0 victory.  Matsuzaka pitched 6.2 innings and only allowed four hits.  It would have been nice to see him cut down on the walks as he did have four of them on the game.

Kevin Youkilis led the Red Sox at the plate 3-3 with two RBI.  Coco Crisp and J.D. Drew also contributed with one RBI each.

I expect the Red Sox to come out again tomrrow and beat the Tigers who are just out of it right now.

Coco Crisp has come out and said that he will ask to be traded if he Jacoby Ellsbury beats him out of the job for starting center fielder.  Crisp says he would be unhappy sitting on the bench, and feels that he can help out a team as a starting center fielder.

I know there have been rumors in the past about the Chicago Cubs possibly be intersted in Crisp as they would use him to platoon with Felix Pie.  It will be interesting to see how this works out.
