I hope everyone is still alive after the blow out loss last night. How dissapointing is this to see the team play so terrible at home against the Tampa Bay Rays? If the 13-4 route on Tuesday night wasn’t bad enough, the Rays are now sending their ace Scott Kazmir to the mound in game five as they hope to finish off the Red Sox and advance to the World Series.

Things were bad right from the get go in game four as Tim Wakefield served up two home runs and allowed three runs in the first inning. Carlos Pena and Willy Aybar both went deep off the knuckle baller to put the Rays up 3-0. Wakefield would only last 2 2/3 innings but that was 2 2/3 innings to much as he gave up six hits and five runs including three home runs.

The bullpen wasn’t much better then Wakefield. Justin Masterson was charged with one run while Mike Timlin gave up two. The big blow to the bullpen was Manny Delcarmen who gave up five runs. The Rays just kept moving base runners along and played station to station baseball to score runs off the Red Sox bullpen. It’s too bad because the pitching staff never gave the offense a chance to get back into the game.

Kevin Youkilis led the offense with two rbi as he grounded out to score David Ortiz in the seventh inning and then added a rbi double to score Dustin Pedroia in the eight inning. Earlier in the eighth, Pedroia got on base via a rbi single that plated Jed Lowrie. The first Sox run came in the third inning on a Kevin Cash solo home run. That was the only home run the Sox would get as they just didn’t hit the ball hard against the Rays.

So now it is onto game five of the series. It is a win or go home situration for the Red Sox and they know that of course. They will be facing off against Scott Kazmir while they send Daisuke Matzuzaka. Let’s stay behind this team because we know that they come back and win the series if they start hitting the ball and the pitching staff stops allowing so many early runs and home runs. Stay positive Sox Nation.
