The Boston Red Sox scored five runs in the first inning and then went on to beat the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 6-1 on Wednesday night. With the win the three game series now tied 1-1 and the rubber match will be Thursday evening.

David Aardsma pitched a scoreless seventh inning and then turned things over to Javier Lopez who threw a scoreless eighth inning. Jason Varitek hit a three run home run in the first inning to have the big hit for the Red Sox on the night. The home run gave the Red Sox a 5-0 lead after the first inning and after that it was all Red Sox. Mike Lowell also added on a solo home run for the Sox. J.D. Drew didn’t want to be left out as he had a rbi single and also scored on a wild pitch in the first inning.
