Growing up in Connecticut, I have noticed that the state is pretty much separated into two baseball universes, so to speak. North of New Haven County, one will likely see an ocean of blue and red, as most baseball fans root for the team from Beantown. Baseball fans south of New Haven County will likely don the New York Yankees pinstripes. This has kept the great state of Connecticut in a professional baseball civil war for most of its years. On the morning of May 22, 1983, my father, the son of a die-hard Yankees fan, decided to buck this trend.
