The Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox have completed a trade that will send David Aardsma to the Red Sox.  In exchange, the White Sox will receive Willy Mota and Miguel Socolovich.

To be honest, I think the Red Sox got a great deal here.  Aardsma can come in and provide some help in the Red Sox bullpen.  He can throw some nasty gas reaching near 100 miles per hour.  He usually strikes out atleast one batter an inning, but needs to solve some control problems if he wants to be a really good relief pitcher.

Doug Mirabelli and the Boston Red Sox are expected to sign a one year contract worth aroung $550,000 soon.  The deal could reach the 1 million/year mark with incentives.

I think keeping Mirabelli around for half a million is a good idea.   Just to catch Tim Wakefield’s knuckle ball lol.  Hopefully Jason Varitek stays healthy and Mirabelli won’t have to much catching other then for Wakefield.
